Conversion of waste paper sludge into magnetic biochar for activation of peroxydisulfate for tetracycline removal
POD
This paper describes the conversion of waste paper sludge into magnetic biochar to activate peroxydisulfate (PDS) for removing tetracycline (TC) from wastewater. The prepared sludge biochar (Fe-SBC), when pyrolyzed at 600°C, showed excellent catalytic activity, achieving a TC degradation rate of 74.89%. Both radical and non-radical pathways contributed to the removal, with ¹O₂ being the dominant non-radical. Coexisting ions like Cl⁻ and CO₃²⁻ were found to inhibit the process. The study provides a sustainable method to recycle waste sludge for wastewater treatment.
