This article talks about the advancements in reducing the brittleness of high-strength Al2O3–GdAlO3 ceramics by enhancing their internal structure. High-strength ceramics, though durable, often suffer from brittleness, which restricts their use in structural applications. The study presents a refined microstructure in Al2O3–GdAlO3 ceramics that significantly improves plasticity by activating slip systems within the Al2O3 phase, typically inactive at room temperature. These findings suggest that optimized microstructures could expand the functionality of high-strength ceramics in engineering applications that demand resilience and flexibility.
