The paper of the day investigates how electrons interact with chiral molecules at atomic scale. Using helicene- based single-molecule junctions, the researchers demonstrate the simultaneous presence of two fundamental electron-chirality interactions. Chiral-Induced Spin Selectivity – where chiral molecules preferentially allow electron transport with a specific spin direction. Electrical Magnetochiral Anisotropy– where electron transport is influenced by the interplay between chirality, electron angular momentum, and an external magnetic field. These insights pave the way for advanced spintronic applications using chiral molecules.
